DP-900 Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals

DP-900 is the introduction to data in the Azure cloud – in a single day and with no prior knowledge required. You learn what types of data exist, when a relational and when a non-relational solution fits, and how analysis and visualisation come together with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. The course prepares you for the DP-900 exam (certification «Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals»).

Data fundamentals

  • Distinguish between structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
  • Common file formats and data stores, matching Azure services to use cases
  • Compare transactional and analytical workloads
  • Roles in the data field: database administration, data engineering, data analysis

Relational data in Azure

  • Relational fundamentals: normalisation, key SQL statements, database objects
  • The Azure SQL family: Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, SQL Server on virtual machines
  • Azure services for open-source databases

Non-relational data in Azure

  • Azure Storage: Blob Storage, Azure Files, Table Storage
  • Azure Cosmos DB: typical use cases and the available APIs

Analytics workloads in Azure

  • Data ingestion and processing, choosing analytical data stores
  • Overview of Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric
  • Distinguish between batch and streaming data, services for real-time analytics
  • Data visualisation with Power BI: feature set, data models, choosing chart types
