German as a Foreign Language A2 – Intensive Week

If you work in German-speaking Switzerland, there’s no getting around German — in this course you learn Standard German while also being introduced to everyday Swiss language use. In the German as a Foreign Language A2 intensive week, you work intensively on your language for five consecutive days — in a small group, mostly speaking, and in the target language from the very first hour. The structure follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, so you always know where you stand and what comes next.

You understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of immediate relevance. You can communicate in simple, routine situations and describe your own background, education and work using simple means.

Structure of the Intensive Week

Refresh and Build On

Working professionals who need German as a foreign language in their everyday work and want to make noticeable progress in a short time. The intensive week is suitable for individuals as well as for teams who want to reach a language level together. Maximum eight participants per group.

Level A1 or around one year of language instruction. A free placement test beforehand ensures that you are in the right module.

Not sure which level suits you? We carry out a free placement test in advance — in writing and in a short conversation. This takes around 20 minutes and prevents the most common disappointment in language courses: the wrong level.

You understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of immediate relevance. You can communicate in simple, routine situations and describe your own background, education and work using simple means.

At the end of the week you receive a written level assessment showing the level you have reached according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, along with a recommendation for the next step.

We work immersively: the target language is spoken from the first hour, and new content is conveyed through images, sound and situations rather than translation lists. Grammar is not learned by heart but worked out from examples — the way you learned your native language.

Speaking accounts for over 60 percent of course time. This is complemented by targeted pronunciation training, listening comprehension with authentic material instead of textbook recordings, and short daily writing exercises. You get access to the learning platform so you can continue building on what you have learned after the week ends.

We offer German as a foreign language at levels A1, A2, B1 and B2. The levels build on one another; each intensive week corresponds to one level. If you want to progress faster, you can book two weeks back to back — however, we recommend at least four weeks of everyday practice in between so that what you have learned can settle in.
