Companies are becoming increasingly dependent on IT support for business-critical processes – especially in customer communication. As a result, applications are placing ever higher demands on data centres in terms of high availability and efficiency. In reality, however, many data centres show considerable deficits in terms of capacity, security or efficiency. At the same time, constantly changing technologies are putting ever greater pressure on data centre managers and staff, and changes and innovations have to be implemented ever faster.

In this course, participants examine the key components of a data centre in order to understand the interactions between the different trades and the complexity of a data centre. Participants acquire additional know-how in the most important areas such as power supply, cooling, cabling, lighting and fire protection for their work in the high-availability data centre of the future.

After completing the course, you will be able to, among other things:

  • determine the optimal location for a business-critical data centre,
  • evaluate and select the right components for a highly available data centre,
  • name and apply the industry standards,
  • implement cost-efficient and reliable solutions for an uninterruptible power supply, fire protection, climate control, cabling systems and much more,
  • optimise the cooling system using existing and new technologies, to meet the increasing demands of the future,
  • set up effective data centre monitoring, to react quickly through transparency and to provide decision support through suitable reporting,
  • apply technical and procedural security measures that protect valuable and sensitive company data in the data centre.

The course prepares you for certification as a Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP), the basic qualification of the EPI Data Centre Training Framework.

 

 

 

This foundation course is aimed at IT or data centre staff who work inside and outside a data centre on its improvement, availability and management. Employees of architectural firms, consultants and suppliers for data centres will also gain a competitive advantage from this specific knowledge.

There are no prerequisites for the CDCP training. The training is suitable for professionals who have gained one to two years of work experience in a data centre or facility environment.
