Domain I: People
- Develop a shared vision, align it with key stakeholders and keep it up to date
- Manage conflict: analyse causes and context, implement a resolution strategy, enforce shared team ground rules
- Lead the project team: clarify expectations and roles, empower the team, choose an appropriate leadership style, leverage diverse experiences and perspectives
- Engage stakeholders: identify, analyse, tailor communication, build trust and exert influence
- Align with and manage the expectations of stakeholders as well as internal and external customers, and monitor satisfaction
- Ensure knowledge transfer within the project
- Plan and manage communication: communication strategy, transparency, feedback loops, reports for sponsors and governance
Domain II: Process
- Create an integrated project management plan: assess need and complexity, recommend an approach (predictive, agile or hybrid), estimate effort and resources, make data-informed decisions
- Define project scope, agree it with stakeholders and structure it
- Deliver value-focused outcomes: prioritise value contributions, deliver incrementally, measure benefits
- Plan and optimise resources; plan and manage procurement: contract types, negotiation strategy, suppliers and contracts
- Plan and manage project finances: funding needs, risk and contingency reserves, expenditure tracking, variances
- Plan and ensure quality: quality requirements, regulatory compliance, cost of quality and sustainability, continuous improvement
- Create and manage a schedule appropriate to the approach: milestones, dependencies, story points, baseline, variance analysis
- Assess project status: metrics, maintain artefacts, communicate progress
- Close a project or phase: acceptance, handover to operations or the next phase, lessons learned and retrospectives
Domain III: Business Environment
- Establish project governance: structures, rules, ethics and policies, success metrics, escalation paths
- Plan and manage compliance: requirements for safety, health protection, sustainability and regulation, consequences of non-compliance
- Manage change: change control process, communicate status, keep documentation up to date
- Remove obstacles and solve problems; recognise when a risk becomes an issue
- Plan and manage risk: identify, analyse, maintain a risk register, implement measures – including for IT security and sustainability risks
- Continuous improvement through lessons learned and updating the organisation’s process assets (OPAs)
- Support organisational change: assess corporate culture, evaluate impact on the project
- Monitor changes in the external environment (regulation, technology, geopolitics, market) and prioritise their impact on scope and backlog
